- The Farmer’s Cow is an innovative, premium milk brand produced
and marketed by Connecticut family owned dairy farms.
- The Farmer’s Cow was formed in response to consumers’ interest in purchasing
fresh, naturally produced, local products.
- Collectively, The Farmer’s Cow member farms milk 2,300 cows and manage over 6,000
acres of Connecticut farmland. The Farmer’s Cow milk is currently available in over
100 grocery stores throughout the state. A complete listing of retailers is shown at www.thefarmerscow.com.
- The Farmer’s Cow is sold in half gallon cartons in whole, 2 percent, 1 percent
and skim varieties. Chocolate milk and single-serve packaging are under development.
- The owners of The Farmer’s Cow are active members in The Connecticut Farmland
Trust and The Working Lands Alliance who are working to protect and preserve Connecticut
farmland. They were also the founding members of “Very Alive,” a non-profit
organization dedicated to the promotion of Connecticut Agriculture.
- Connecticut farms contribute $2 billion annually to the local economy.1
- 51 per cent of Connecticut farmland is in dairy or dairy support. In 2003, there were
191 dairy farms remaining in Connecticut.2
